If you read my previous post “I’m not fighting cancer anymore!” then you know that my sister Cece has been fighting lung cancer for over 4.5 yrs. If you haven’t read that post, please take a moment to read the first paragraph, so that you will have the necessary background info.
In January, we almost lost Cece when she went into septic shock. She recovered, and subsequently visited her old college roomate and friend Sue Lopez. Sue and her husband Bob are musicians that perform together as Special Blend. Cece and Sue collaborated to write My Sweet Girl. Cece wrote the lyrics, Sue the music, and Bob produced it.
We’ll be playing this song during the Luminaria Ceremony at the Relay for Life of Central Phoenix. I’m certainly about as biased as a person could be, but I think this song is beautiful, and we want to share it and make it available to the world. It is a gift from Cece to Tess, but I think it speaks to all of us who have been touched by cancer. Please use My Sweet Girl as you see fit. It is an honor to Cece’s courage, grace and committment to Tess. Tess will be graduating from Flagstaff High School on June 5th, and with your prayers, Cece will be there to share this achievement.

I don’t know about “old” friend…”long time” friend is better.
I encourage everyone who cares about Cece to purchase a luminaria for her. I would love to see the track lined with luminaria in honor of Cece, with all the proceeds going to cancer research. Thank you Ted for your efforts. You are an inspiration.

I pray that CeCe will get her wish.

What a beautiful tribute.I lost my mom to cancer last June 27 and we are nearer a year and there will never be a day I don’t want to pick up the phone and call her about the good and bad that life brings.I will be 39 on June 1 st and I feel like I have already been seperated from her and my father for a lifetime my dad died of a heart attack when I was 18. I guess I never thought I would be with out parents so early in life!!!When I hear songs like yours it gives me hope that others are out there and know how I feel and your song truly touched me and for this I thank you. I hope things get better for all of you and my thoughts and prayers are with you all!!!My song to my parents has always been “The Wind Beneath My Wings” I hope when you hear that song you realize how lucky we are for the small time we all share on this earth…

What a beautiful gift to give this world. Thank you so much for sharing your talents!!! May God continue to bless you and keep you strong in faith. I too lost both my parents to cancer, my dad in 1997 and my mom this past February 2009. We were blessed to have been able to see them both through their respective final journey in life and send them home with much love, dignity and pride. My husband is also a cancer survivor, praise God. It is for them and people like you why I Relay. God Bless you and yours….Love, Colleen
